Mini Mozzarella Sticks With Marinara Sauce

  • 1 1/2 cups Italian-Style dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 cups Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (16-ounce) block Dragone® Fresh Mozzarella, cut into 2-inch x 1/2-inch wide sticks
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 cups store-bought marinara sauce

Directions

In a medium bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, Shredded Parmesan Cheese and salt. Set aside.

Dip the cheese sticks in the eggs to coat completely. Allow the excess egg to drip back into the bowl. Coat the Dragone® Fresh Mozzarella Cheese in the breadcrumb mixture, patting to make sure the breadcrumbs adhere to the cheese sticks. Place the cheese sticks on a baking sheet. Repeat dipping the cheese sticks in the egg and then the breadcrumb mixture to coat a second time. Cover and freeze until frozen, about 2 hours and up to 2 days.

In a deep skillet, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350ºF. Working in batches, fry the cheese sticks until golden brown, about 1 minute per side, and transfer them to a paper towel–lined baking sheet. Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
